CONGRATULATIONS, GRADE 3
Posted Monday, May 12 by Ms. Pion
Our third graders made their First Communion on Saturday, May 10th at the noon Mass.  Ms. Baldelli and the third grade parents spent a great deal of time preparing our children for this most important day.  We pray that God will continue to bless them and that this most precious sacrament will remain an important part of their lives.
BLESSING for our children: "May your First Communion celebrate your friendship with Jesus. As you grow in this friendship may your words be gentle and your touch be kind. May you hear whispers of Love in your heart each day. May you have fun in discovering God hidden everywhere! And, may you remember to thank God often for the gift of life."

NEW PRE-SCHOOL NAME

Our new pre-school program will now be called The School of Young Scholars of St. Mary Magdalen.  This name is based on the fact that our program for 3 and 4 year olds will provide the academic introduction to the Kindergarten curriculum including the integration of technology. Our director is Mrs. Bernadette Mecca and assisted by Mrs. Kim Bendtsen.  This is an exciting program in our new building!  This program is modeled on the top program in the diocese.  How exciting a time for SMMS. If you would like further information, please call the school and check out our pre-school page!

WELCOME BACK
Posted Thursday, August 16 by Ms. Pion
Welcome to a brand new and what hopefully will be a stimulating year!  Special welcome to our new families.
Fr. Jim has been officially named pastor and no longer just administrator.  We congratulate him and look forward to continuing our work together for the good of the parish and the school.
Our building expansion is in full swing as you can see by the pictures.  Pledges collected so far for this $1.4 million project amounts to $1,082,000.00!  Although money continues to come into the school for this new addition, we are still short  $318,000.00.  In light of the shortfall, we will be unable to complete the second floor of this project.  The shell will be in place until we have the necessary funds.   Housed on the second floor with be the new kindergarten classroom which will allow our small second grade room to move into the present kindergarten.  It will also be home to a library/media center as well as an all-purpose room to be used for before and after school care.  So, if you have not made your pledge and would like to help us get this project completed a.s.a.p., please contact Mrs. Ciarleglio who can help you with your tax deductible gift!

I’ll try to keep up with the progress by adding pictures to this website periodically.  So, please check it out!

Again, welcome!  May God bless us all with a productive and invigorating new year!
Peace in Christ,
Ms. Pion

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP PROCEDURE
Posted Thursday, August 16 by Ms. Pion
Children in K—8 will need to be dropped off between 8:30 and 8:50 at the front door.    It is important that your child be ready to exit your car QUICKLY.  They should be able to do this without the driver needing to get out of the car.  Backpacks should be close at hand (not in the trunk).  Drivers should be considerate of cars behind them. (Since the teachers are not available until 8:30, it is not possible to allow the children into the building until there is proper supervision and there will be no place for them to wait safely outside.  If your child needs to be here before 8:30, please utilize the before school program!)
In the afternoon, bus students are dismissed first.  Parents who will be picking their children up by car, are asked to park in the church parking lot and, after the busses leave, proceed north on Buckingham Street into the circle.  Children are dismissed from the front door directly into their cars.  Please keep the traffic moving.  It is helpful if you have a “family name” sign in your front windshield so that your child/ren are ready when you approach the circular drive.   Parents who wish to walk up to the front door must park off school premises and walk to the front door.  “Walkers” will be dismissed after those leaving by car.
This procedure has been very successful and I have no doubt that it will continue to be so.  Thank you for helping us to keep all our children “safe”!
YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO HAVE YOUR CHILD TAKE THE BUS, IF ELIGIBLE!
